Description
John Rice has donated many paintings to Stripers Forever over the years. This is an unframed original watercolor “Waiting on the Tide.” It is 8×10 inches. The painting was an illustration for On the Water Magazine in November of 2017.
Waiting on the Tide was painted from a 1980s photograph that John took at Squibnocket Beach on Martha’s Vineyard where he used to stay and fish with the well-known fishing couple Ken and Lori Vanderlaske. This is the very essence of big bass fishing from the beach. The little cove that occasionally produced some monster bass is right in front of the angler, and the Muscle Bar is just out beyond that. The piece of land in the distance over to the right is Squibnocket Point, and the Bass Stand is located right there just this side of tip.
