Big Bass Striper Flies (2017)

Winning Bid: $202.00

Item condition: New

Description

The late Brock Apfel was the head of the LLBean fishing department during the heyday of the striped bass recovery during the 1990s.  On a number of occasions Brad Burns took Brock and Lefty Kreh – then endorsing LLBean products – fishing on Maine’s Kennebec River.  Brock was a legendary fisherman and fly tier, and the creator of The Grocery Fly.  These flies were given by Brock to Maine master guide Harvey Wheeler who has donated them to this auction.  These flies are irreplaceable and unique.

There are 16 really large striper flies here.  A couple of the flies were actually tied by Brad Burns and not by Brock.   These are terrific flies to have when big bass are feeding on large herring or bunker.
