Stripers Forever Virginia – Ron Staples, our VA State Chairman, is planning a campaign to increase membership and awareness of Stripers Forever, and the case for striped bass game fish in VA. In the coming months, Ron and other volunteers plan to visit fishing clubs, conservation organizations, and policy makers across VA.
To further bolster this effort SF has commissioned a version of our highly-regarded Southwick Study which details the comparative social and economic values of recreational versus commercial striped bass fishing, and forecasts what those figures would look like if the striper were made a game fish and there were no longer any commercial fishery allowed for striped bass in VA waters. Based on what we have seen in other states, the results will be very impressive.
