Stripers Forever Members in Maine:
As a courtesy to organizations aligned with our goal of game fish status for the wild striped bass on the Atlantic Coast, we will sometimes help out by sending important notices to our e-mail list.~ We are passing on this notice of reorganization meetings for CCA Maine.~ A healthy CCA presence in Maine could be beneficial in addressing many areas of concern to saltwater recreational anglers.~ Here is their notice.~ Brad Burns
“CCA Maine is holding two meetings in~November~on~how~you can help~revitalize the organization. We hope you can come to one and get involved!~
· Monday, November 13th, 6:00 at Brian Boru, 57 Center Street, Portland.
· Tuesday,~November 14th,~6:00 at The Sea Dog, 1 Main Street, Topsham.
CCA~supports Stripers Forever's efforts~to seek~game fish status for striped bass.~ CCA has a long history of~working~effectively~on marine protection and restoration here in Maine:
· CCA was part of an effort to eliminate commercial striped bass fishing in the EEZ through the Striped Bass Act reauthorization in 1998, and continues to defend this important protection from assaults by commercial interests.~
· CCA Maine helped secure $2.5 million from Bath Iron Works to remove Edwards Dam on the Kennebec River.
· CCA Maine raised $450,000 in cash and in-kind donations to purchase and remove the Smelt Hill Dam on the Presumpscot River.~
· CCA Maine reduced the number of commercial licenses sold to elver fishermen by 70%, shortened the eel season by three weeks, and removed 3,000 harmful nets from Maine waters.
We hope you can attend one of these meetings and be a part of the future success of CCA Maine.~
