Continued threat to yellow perch
Stripers Forever MD - at the request of the MD CCA we are forwarding this e-mail to our members in MD.  As we said in our earlier broadcast, yellow perch are not striped bass, but this is none-the-less an important local recreational fishery.  Let's make the extra effort to set precedents that will help lay the ground work for making wild striped bass a gamefish in the Bay, and all along the East Coast.  Brad Burns

ACTION ALERT: Cambridge Next Battleground in Fight to Stop Commercial Netters
January 30, 2006- Coastal Conservation Association Maryland (CCA MD) is warning its members and the public not to declare victory yet. In a pair of Action Alerts issued today, CCA MD called on Eastern Shore fishermen to defend the Choptank and Nanticoke Rivers from commercial netting by attending a public hearing on February 8 in Cambridge on the proposal to allow commercial exploitation of yellow perch. Fishermen west of the Bay are being encouraged to cross the Bay Bridge and attend the hearing to show support for their fellow anglers.
The February 8 hearing in Cambridge begins at 7pm at the County Commissioners Office, 501 Court Lane.
