Stripers Forever Massachusetts - a short while ago we encouraged members to write Governor Romney requesting that he initiate legislation to stop commercial striped bass fishing in MA. We still very much encourage you to write. The more people he hears from the better. All the information is on our website under the 2/15 New England Action Alert on the right side of the Home Page. Just click on that and follow the instructions. We need more letters; it's numbers that matter to our elected officials.
In response to our letter, the governor asked DMF director Paul Diodati to reply. His letter to us, and ours in return to him are attached. Our response to Mr. Diodati's letter was mailed today and it too is attached for your information. You can write Mr. Diodati if you want, but in our view we need to pile on the letters to Governor Romney. It is from his office that the policies will be directed. But in any case, get involved, send e-mails, send letters, and let Governor Romney know that the interests of the citizens of MA are not served by letting a handful of individuals hammer away at the breeding stripers to finance their own sport.
