A Landmark Event: Symposium, Banquet & Auction held May 20, 2006
An afternoon symposium was held which featured five highly qualified speakers who addressed the historical, social, economic and conservation aspects of designating recreationally important saltwater species as game fish. Case studies of red drum in Florida and striped bass in New Jersey were presented, projections made, and parallels drawn that add great credibility to the case for striped bass game fish status coast-wide.
The symposium was followed by a cocktail hour and silent auction that provided a chance to meet the symposium speakers and to catch up with old fishing buddies. A very successful banquet and auction followed, raising funds that will help SF continue the journey to the designation of striped bass as game fish.
We thank all those who gave up one of the few nice days we've had in the past month to attend this important function.
Please give special thanks to the symposium speakers as well as to the product and service donors, who include businesses, individuals, and of course, guides, who so generously gave to the causes of striped bass game fish and recreational fishing.
