Stripers Forever MA, CT, RI - we are pleased to announce that Stripers Forever will be working cooperatively with Stripercoast Surfcasters of Rhode Island towards the objective of striped bass game fish in Rhode Island state waters. We urge fishermen to support local fishing orgnaizations that support the concept of game fish protection for wild striped bass. Stripercoast Surfcasters has an upcoming event that will give you a great opportunity to do
that while enjoying some fishing after the long winter.
Here is their announcement:
“Mark your calendars folk's.
Memorial Day weekend Rhode Island.
National Shoot out for score points.
We will have sponsors.
We will have media coverage.
I will be posting details here and in newsletters as we confirm and add details. This is for Stripercoast members and invited guests only.
Kick off meeting, registration will be held at Ocean State Tackle, Center of New England Plaza Coventry Rhode Island, at 10 AM on May 23. Directions will be posted and/or sent to get there. It is right off Rte 95, 3 minutes from the exit. Ocean State Tackle is our official Tackle Shop in the State of Rhode Island with 3 locations. Dave from Ocean State is a lot like most of us, rough around the edges, and tells it like it is. He'll be making his presence known real soon.
This will be a “no kill event”, as with all of our events with arrangements made to donate all killed fish to the Rhode Island food bank. By donating any fish to the food bank, you will not receive penalty points for your score.
Cost per angler will be $25.00.
Click Here for instructions on how to submit your entry fee payment.
All contestants will be grouped with local anglers. This will be a great way for out of town folks to learn some great Rhode Island Fishing Locations with seasoned Rhody fisherman.
I am also looking into some lodging, such as Tent sites at Fort Getty on Jamestown and other more comfortable accommodations as well.)
Ed is the National President and his contact info is as follows for any members of Stripers Forever that may be interested in participating.
